AHMET AFIF PASHA MANSION
The Ahmet Afif Pasha Mansion, located between Istinye and Yeniköy, was constructed between 1900 and 1910. It was commissioned by Ahmet Afif Pasha and designed by the renowned French architect Alexandre Vallaury. Built along a symmetrical axis perpendicular to the sea, the mansion features four levels: a ground floor, two main floors, and an attic. The structure is notable for its large size and iconic watchtower-style cihannüma elements.
The sea-facing facade of the mansion is adorned with tall, narrow windows and intricate architectural details filling the spaces between floors, creating a dynamic and visually striking appearance. Inside, the interiors are richly decorated, with intricate carvings on the ceilings and gold-gilded designs. The walls also feature elaborate painted panels. The mansion is recognized as the second most expensive Manison in Istanbul. This historic mansion served as the filming location for the 1975 television adaptation of Aşk-ı Memnu, directed by Halit Refiğ, based on Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil’s novel of the same name.
SOLUTION
The 3,700 m² historic mansion has changed ownership multiple times over the years. With its unique architecture and handcrafted details, cabling within the mansion without damaging its delicate structure was impossible. Additionally, the building's frequent use for film sets, events, and other activities increased the risk of fire. To address these challenges, Teknim's Wireless Fire Detection System was installed, utilizing approximately 100 wireless devices to provide complete protection while preserving the aesthetic and historical integrity of the mansion
